VCAT Approval for Wests Rd
An approval has been issued by VCAT for 2 Wests Rd. A $47m, 193 apartment development in Maribyrnong for Pace Investments. The building was designed to be capable of delivery in stages, to provide a range of apartment sizes and types, and to respond to council’s identification of the site as a “landmark site”.
The site sits at the intersection of Hampstead Road, Williamson Road and Wests Road and therefore provided an opportunity for the built form to terminate the vista of the approach along Hampstead Road. At a pedestrian scale, the prominent corner of the site is actually cut away, providing a public court for meeting and gathering. This connects to a retail/commercial space at ground floor, to further activate Williamson Road.
